Larifari

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Larifari stands for "senseless chatter ". The term originated from the Italian note designations, which were used in German-speaking countries as well, which are placed under the individually sung notes as a string of syllables when practicing a melody according to the method of Guido von Arezzo and thus result in a basically meaningless text. As a note text, however, it is suitable for memorizing the melody and at the same time the notes belonging to the note sung. La , re , fa here denote the notes a , d and f , which together form the d minor triad.

use

In their German dictionary of 1854, the Brothers Grimm describe Larifari as the “rejection of empty talk” and deduce from this that “we must regard the word itself as lacking in meaning”. In everyday language , exaggerated nonsense or largely senseless talk is called this. In addition, the term denotes states of indecision, half-heartedness or lack of seriousness, similar to wishy-washy , chocolates , humbug , frippery , Kladderadatsch , Galimathias or mumpitz .

Other meanings

Larifari is also the name of Kasperl Larifari , a literary figure in the approximately 40 puppet shows by Count Franz von Pocci (1807–1876). Furthermore, the largest carnival society in the East Bavarian region bears the name “Faschingsgesellschaft Lari-Farihabenbach e. V ". The cabinet of Dr. Larifari is a German sound film from 1930.
