Larisa at Hermos

Larissa, Turkey (Greek Λάρισα, Λάρισσα) was an ancient city in Asia Minor landscape Aeolis .

Larisa was north of the lower reaches of the Hermos River in the Aiolis in what is now Turkey . Already mentioned by Homer as the town of the Pelasgians , Larisa was conquered by the Greek tribe of the Aioler and was henceforth called Phrikonis . In archaic times (approx. 700–490 BC) Larisa was organized in the Aeolian League of Eleven Cities , in the 5th century BC. In the Attic-Delian League . In 399 the city was besieged by Thribon in vain, in 398 it was finally taken over by Derkylidas. In the Hellenistic period (332–30 BC) Larisa degenerated into a village.

The identification of Larisa with the ancient city near Buruncuk with a palace , a megaron complex of the 6th century BC. BC, a defensive wall, as well as a younger palace from approx. 330 BC. With 4 Megara, is controversial. Localization at Yanıkköy would also be possible .
