Larissa Michailowna Berkowa ( Russian Лари́са Миха́йловна Беркова , born February 8, 1955 in Rustavi , Georgian SSR , born Larissa Mikhailovna Sawkina ) is a Soviet handball player and Olympic champion .

Career

Berkowa ran on during her career for the Soviet club Awtomobiliste Baku . With Awtomobiliste she won the IHF Cup in the 1982/83 season . Furthermore, Berkowa belonged to the squad of the Soviet national team . At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , she won the gold medal. During the Olympic tournament, Berkowa scored one goal in five games.
