Larry Frazier

Lawrence "Larry" Frazier (* around 1935) is an American rhythm - & - blues - and jazz guitarist (also electric bass ).

Frazier played in the early 1960s in Cincinnati in the soul-jazz band of the organist Hank Marr electric bass and as a guitarist in the backing band of the singer Lula Reed ; with both of them made recordings for Federal Records . From 1963 until the 1970s he worked in New York City with Jimmy McGriff , for whom he also composed ( South West, 1968). In the following two decades he played a. a. with Clarence Wheeler ( The New Chicago Blues, 1972), Lloyd Wallace and in Chicago with Charles Earland (Earland's Jam).

With Curtis Mayfield he wrote the instrumental number Before Six, which he recorded in 1962 in a quartet; the single was released on the Impulse jazz label ! Records (# 45-205). In the field of jazz he was involved in 27 recording sessions between 1960 and 2006, most recently in Hal Tsuchida's organ trio (Midnight Shuffle).
