Lawrence Michael "Larry" Hanks (born January 26, 1953 ) is an American entomologist and professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign .

Life

Hanks received his BS in 1978 from the University of California, Davis and his MS in 1982 from the University of Nevada, Reno . He received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1991. PhD; his doctoral supervisor was Robert Denno. He did his postdoc at the University of California-Riverside . In 1996 he started at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as an assistant professor ; In 2003 he was promoted to Associate Professor and in 2008 to Full Professor.

Larry Hanks is the older brother of American actor Tom Hanks .
