Larry Rachleff

Larry Rachleff (born February 25, 1955 ) is an American conductor and music teacher.

Rachleff studied music education at the University of Connecticut (Bachelor in 1977) and received masters degrees in percussionist (1978) and conductor (1979) from the University of Michigan . He taught at the Oberlin Conservatory , where he also music director of the orchestra and conductor of the Contemporary Ensemble was, and has the Walter-Kris-Hubert professor of orchestral conducting at the Shepherd School of Music of Rice University held. He also gave master classes a. a. at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Zurich University of the Arts , the Juilliard School , the New England Conservatory and the Conservatories of Sydney and Queensland.

Rachleff has been the conductor of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra since 1995 . With this he founded the Amica Rush Hour Series , a concert series for listeners of different age groups and for families, and was involved in the establishment of the Philharmonic Music School , which is now one of the largest municipal music schools in the USA. As a guest conductor he worked a. a. with the symphony orchestras of Utah, Houston, Seattle, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Phoenix, Dayton and Toledo and participated in summer festivals in Tanglewood, Aspen, Interlochen and Chautauqua, the Brevard Music Festival , the festivals of the Music Academy of the West and the Opera of Lucca and the Grand Teton Music Festival . Rachleff is a promoter of contemporary music and has worked with composers such as Samuel Adler , Luciano Berio , George Crumb , Michael Daugherty and John Harbison .
