Larry Keith Robison (born August 12, 1957 in Taylor County , Texas , † January 21, 2000 in Huntsville , Walker County , Texas) was an American murderer who killed five people. He was executed in 2000 .

Events

Larry Robison cruelly killed five people in Tarrant County , Texas on August 10, 1982 . He had killed 31-year-old Ricky Bryant with two headshots and beheaded, and the body was covered with cuts and knife wounds. Next door, 55-year-old Earline Barker, 33-year-old Bruce Gardner, 34-year-old Georgia Reed and 11-year-old Scott Reed were found murdered. All victims had gunshot, cut and stab wounds.

Robison was arrested the next day in Kansas . He was driving the victim Bruce Gardner's car and carried the murder weapon, jewelry and wallets of the victims Bruce Gardner and Ricky Bryant with him. An acquaintance told investigators that Robison confessed to the crime during a telephone conversation after his arrest. According to her testimony, he killed Bryant first and only went to the house next door as he could not find the keys to Bryant's car. There he killed the four residents in order to get to Bruce Gardner's vehicle and not to leave any witnesses.

Robison was charged with murder and sentenced to death in 1983 . In 1986 the Texas Court of Appeal overturned the verdict because of an error in the selection of the jury . In November 1987, however, he was sentenced to death again in a new trial. The Court of Appeal upheld the sentence and sentence in June 1994. All of the following appeals were denied.

Robison suffered from paranoid schizophrenia , but his parents could not afford treatment. In Robison's two proceedings, the jury was not given details of his mental illness. The prosecutor argued that there are many people with schizophrenia who do not become murderers.

Appeals for clemency , including by Pope John Paul II and representatives of the European Union , were rejected by Governor George W. Bush . Spokesman Mike Johnson said it is not up to the governor to make judgments about the mental health of inmates. Courts are responsible for this.

Robison was established in January 2000 in Huntsville Unit with the lethal injection executed.
