Lars Anders Tomter

Lars Anders Tomter (born November 30, 1959 in Hamar , Norway) is a Norwegian violist and winner of international competitions.

biography

Tomter studied in Oslo with Leif Joergensen , then with Max Rostal and Sándor Végh in Bern . Internationally he often played with Det Norske Kammerorkester , but also as a soloist with orchestras of international standing. He is director of the Risor Chamber Music Festival and a frequent guest at international chamber music festivals such as the Moritzburg Festival in Germany . As a teacher he teaches at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, but has also had visiting professorships in Berlin , Gothenburg , Copenhagen and at international master courses such as the Verbier Festival . Numerous CD recordings document him as a soloist and chamber musician. Tomter was awarded the Order of St. Olavs in 2010 . He plays an instrument made by Gasparo da Salò from 1590.
