Lars Møller Madsen (born May 30, 1981 in Ølgod , Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player . He is 2.05 m tall and played for the Danish men's national handball team . He was mostly used in the left back space.
Lars Møller Madsen started playing handball in his hometown Ølgod , later he played for IF Centrum and Team Esbjerg . After leaving school, he began training as an electrician, but in summer 2001 received an offer from the first division club Skjern Håndbold . There he won the City Cup in 2002 and 2003, and in 2003 and 2004 he reached the final of the Danish Cup. Møller Madsen became the top scorer of his team and made his debut for the national team on his 22nd birthday. In May 2005 - after the end of the Danish championship - he was loaned to BM Ciudad de Almería in the Spanish league ASOBAL for just one month . After his international breakthrough at the 2007 World Cup in Germany, several top clubs showed interest in Møller Madsen; then Skjern extended with him until 2010. Lars Møller Madsen, however, left Skjern for Wisła Płock in the summer of 2009. In December 2010 Møller Madsen moved during the season to the Swedish first division club IFK Kristianstad . From the 2014/15 season he played for HIF Karlskrona . He ended his career there shortly before the start of the 2018/19 season.
Lars Møller Madsen played 74 international matches for the Danish men's national handball team . At the European Handball Championship in Norway in 2008 he was European champion ; at the European Handball Championship in 2006 he won bronze as well as at the 2007 World Cup in Germany. In 2007 he advanced to the match winner in the quarter-finals against Iceland with a total of 9 goals and the all-important hit, but Denmark lost to Poland in the semi-finals . In the game for 3rd place Møller Madsen was seriously injured and fell out of the second half of the 2006/07 season.
