Las Palmas is an underwater plateau 24 m below sea level in Port Foster of Deception Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located north of the Spanish Gabriel de Castilla station in front of the entrance to Primero de Mayo Bay .
Spanish scientists named it after the Spanish research ship Las Palmas , which anchored here on eleven Antarctic voyages to supply the research station.
