LaSalle is a city in the Canadian province of Ontario in Essex County . The city has 28,643 inhabitants. It is on the Detroit River and Turkey Creek , across from Detroit . The city hosts the Strawberry Festival every year. It always takes place on the first weekend of June. The city is named after the French explorer Robert Cavelier de La Salle .
