Lasar Salkind

Lasar Borissowitsch Salkind ( Russian Лазарь Борисович Залкинд ) (born January 2, 1886 in Charkow , † June 25, 1945 in Komsomolsk am Amur ) was a Soviet chess composer .

Biography information

Salkind was a business economist by profession. During the Stalin era , he was embroiled in a Menshevik trial in 1931 and sentenced to eight years in prison. He died in exile and was later posthumously rehabilitated .

Chess composer

The problem column in salkind was 1913-1916 editor Schachmatny Vestnik and 1922-1929 in Schachmaty . In addition, he was chairman of the Commission for Problems and Studies in the All-Russian Chess Federation. He created more than 500 chess compositions, sixty of which were awarded in national and international tournaments.
