history

The area of today's city originally belonged to China and came under Russian rule in 1858. In 1860 the village of Permskoye was established there , founded by settlers from the Perm province .

In 1931 the government of the Russian SFSR decided to build a shipyard on the Amur bank in what is now Komsomolsk. A few months later, in May 1932, the first group of volunteers from different areas of the Soviet Union - most of these volunteers were young people and belonged to the communist youth organization " Komsomol " - started construction on the future city. For this reason, the city was later called Komsomolsk (with the addition "on the Amur" to avoid confusion with places of the same name such as Komsomolsk (Iwanowo) ), and 1932 has been the year the city was founded.

The laying of the foundation stone of the shipyard took place in the summer of 1933 and was completed by 1939 together with several other industrial companies. The expansion of industry in Komsomolsk continued in the second half of the 20th century.
