Tram network in Komsomolsk-on-Amur 2015

The Komsomolsk-on-Amur tram was a tram company opened on November 6, 1957 in the Russian city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur . After years of neglected maintenance, the network was shut down on October 1, 2018 and its complete shutdown announced on October 26, 2018.

The first tram line went into operation on November 6, 1957, and others followed until 1961. The consistently double-track route network comprised a maximum of five lines, at the time of the closure three were still in operation. Part of it was on its own track, other significant parts were flush with the street.

From the turn of the millennium, the importance of local public transport decreased significantly: De-industrialization and increasing individual traffic caused the number of users to shrink significantly. The operation was mainly supported by 17 RVZ-6M2, 9 KTM-5M3 and 9 LM-93. Due to neglected maintenance, the bridge between the depot and the network was closed on September 1, 2018, which meant that no vehicles could move out.
