Tram network plan |
The Ulan-Ude tram is a wide-gauge tram company in the eastern Siberian city of Ulan-Ude, approximately 170 kilometers north of the Mongolian border.
Construction began in 1956. The first train ran on December 16, 1958. The network was continuously expanded until 1989. The ring was closed in 2007 and the lines have been running on their current route since then.
The railway has 69 vehicles, of which a maximum of 55 are used at the same time. The others serve as backup vehicles in the event of a breakdown. The vehicles are fitted with hoop pantographs. There are 32 KTM-5s from 1980–1991, 13 KTM-8s from 1993–1994, four KTM-8Ms from 1998–2001 and 20 KTM-19s . Due to the young age of the vehicles, they are, like the track network, in good condition.
On the ring-shaped network with three branches there are four lines numbered 1, 2, 4 and 5.
