71-608 is the name of one of the Ust-Katawer Waggonbaufabrik in Ust-Kataw ( Soviet Union , today Russia ) built tram- railcar type. Unofficially, this type is also called KTM-8 ( Russian КТМ-8) after the manufacturer's old brand name KTM .

71-608 / 71-608K (KTM-8)

In 1988, two prototypes of a successor to the large-scale KTM-5 were built and delivered to the Kalinin tram (now Tver ). They differed from the KTM-5 by the smooth side walls, the greater width, the newly designed front and four instead of three doors. Series production began in 1990, and 901 railcars had been built by 1994. The standard-gauge KTM-8 built for Rostov-on-Don did not have a separate type designation.

71-608KM (KTM-8M)

In 1994 the design of the front was adapted to the type KTM-11 (see below) built from 1991, the new variant was given the type designation KTM-8M. Construction continued even after the successor model KTM-19 appeared in 1999. 578 railcars had been built by 2007.

71-611 (KTM-11) / 71-611P (KTM-11P)

In 1991, a version called the KTM-11 with doors on both sides was developed for the Metrotram Volgograd . The cars were used in double traction , which meant that they could be used like a full-fledged two -way car. The number of doors on each side has been reduced to three compared to the KTM-8. The design of the front was made somewhat more rounded and corresponded to the later KTM-8M.

Volgograd received only one train, four more trains were delivered to the Kryvyi Rih tram from 1993 . Three of them were equipped as a three-car train with an additional intermediate car (type KTM-11P) without driver's cabs.

71-615 (KTM-15)

The meter-gauge tram in Pyatigorsk received eleven KTM-15 multiple units. Except for the gauge, these correspond to the KTM-8M.

71-617 (KTM-17)

The Moscow tram received twelve railcars with additional equipment for use in driving school operations. Two of them correspond to the type KTM-8, ten to the type KTM-8M.
