The Straßenbahn Magazin is a German magazine about trams and local transport . It was founded in 1970 by the Franckh-Kosmos publishing house , was later transferred to GeraNova Zeitschriftenverlag and has been published by GeraMond Verlag since issue number 99 (1/1996) .

history

After the zero number was tried out as a special issue in the Lok Magazin in 1970 , the magazine appeared every three months from August 1971 (February, May, August, November). Three issues were dedicated to just one company: 17 ( Strasbourg ), 21 ( Bremen ) and 24 ( Cologne ). From issue 39 of February 1981, the subtitle changed from “Reports and pictures from the past and present” to “Electric local transport in reports and pictures from the past and the present”. In November 1993, issue 91 was changed to a new appearance, before issue 99 and the change to GeraMond in February 1996, the entire tram magazine was revised - including the format, the scope and the proportion of color photos. At the same time, six issues per year were now distributed; From issue 123 (01/2000) the publication was changed to monthly.

Edition

The tram magazine appears monthly with a circulation of almost 9,000 copies. According to its own information, it is Europe's largest tram magazine. The volume is around 80 pages.

content

The magazine documents the historical developments in local rail transport in text and images and reports on innovations in transport companies in Germany, Europe and worldwide. Historic and modern vehicles, businesses, routes and depots as well as museums are presented. Model trams have also been dealt with since 1997 , initially as an enclosed 16-page DIN A 5 booklet only for subscribers , and later as an integral part of the magazine. Jens-Olaf Griese-Bandelow has been the head of the model editorial department since 1998.
