Amursk ( Russian Аму́рск ) is a city in the Khabarovsk region ( Russia ) with 42,970 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the middle Amur lowlands , about 230 km north of the regional capital Khabarovsk on several left arms of the Amur ( Stary Amur , i.e. Alter Amur , Padalinskaya , Galbon ). To the west of the city is the Padali Lake .
The city of Amursk is administratively directly subordinate to the republic and at the same time the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .
history
The current city of Amursk has been in existence since the 1950s when a cellulose plant was built near the Nanaan settlement of Padali (named after the nearby lake, Nanaian for drying out ) . The official date of foundation is June 19, 1958, when the status of urban-type settlement was granted. 1973 the place received city rights.

Culture and sights
Amursk has had a local museum since 1972. There is a botanical garden in the city.
Economy and Infrastructure
In addition to the cellulose and paper combine, there are other companies in the chemical and wood processing industry as well as mechanical engineering in Amursk and the surrounding area.
A branch line to Amursk branches off from the Mylki station on the (Khabarovsk -) Volotschajewka - Dzemgi (- Komsomolsk-on-Amur ) railway line ( freight traffic only). There is also a road connection to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, 45 kilometers to the north.
