geography
The settlement is located on the east side of the Mjaotschan low mountain range (also Mjao-Tschan), almost 270 km as the crow flies northeast of the regional capital Khabarovsk and 30 km northwest of the city of Komsomolsk on the Amur . history
The place was created in the early 1960s in connection with the development of tin ore deposits in the mountains west of the place around the settlement of Gorny , 15 km away , when the Solnetschny Mining and Enrichment Combine (Solnetschny GOK) was built there. In 1963 the plant started operations; this year is also considered to be the founding year of the place, which was initially part of today's settlement Gorny, which has been called Solnetschny since 1958 . This name stands for sunny (settlement) , from Russian Solnze for sun .
In 1966, the new, now already larger settlement was spun off as an independent urban-type settlement, where the name Solnetschny passed to this, while the original Solnetschny since then the name Gorny wearing of Russian gora for mountain, or about mountain settlement. On March 23, 1977, Solnetschny became the administrative center of a new district that had been detached from Komsomolsk Raion .

Culture and sights
In recent years, the 1500 m high Mjaotschan Mountains - benefited by its easily accessible location near the city of Komsomolsk - have developed into a regionally important tourist center, especially for winter sports. In 2003 and 2004, several alpine ski slopes with lifts were opened here at the newly built ski centers and hotels Choldomi and Amut Snow Lake (named after the small mountain lake Amut).
Economy and Infrastructure
After the mining around Solnetschny came to a virtual standstill in the mid-1980s due to the exhaustion of the profitable ore deposits (in addition to tin, copper and lead ) and the output of the enrichment plant in Solnetschny was only a few hundred tons of ore concentrate per year, marks today especially the forestry settlement and Rajon.
The closest train station is Chalgasso, around 20 km east of the Baikal-Amur main line . A road leads past Chalgasso from Komsomolsk to Solnetschny and further up the Silinka into the mountains.
