Jiamusi ( Chinese  佳木斯 市 , Pinyin Jiāmùsī Shì ) is a district-free city in the northeastern Chinese province of Heilongjiang , which lies on the banks of the middle and lower reaches of the Songhua Jiang . Jiamusi has an area of ​​approx. 32,700 km² and a population of around 2.52 million (end of 2015), of which 631,357 are in the urban city center.

Important and well-known educational institutions are Jiamusi University (佳木斯 大学) and Jiamusi First Middle School (佳木斯 第一 中学), one of the best middle schools in Heilongjiang .

Administrative structure

At the county level, Jiamusi consists of four city ​​districts , three districts and three independent cities . These are:

  • Fuyuan City (抚远 市), 6,260 km², 110,000 inhabitants;
  • Tongjiang City (同 江 市), 6,252 km², 170,000 inhabitants;
  • City of Fujin (富锦市), 8,227 m², 450,000 inhabitants.
