Jiamusi
Jiamusi ( Chinese 佳木斯 市 , Pinyin Jiāmùsī Shì ) is a district-free city in the northeastern Chinese province of Heilongjiang , which lies on the banks of the middle and lower reaches of the Songhua Jiang . Jiamusi has an area of approx. 32,700 km² and a population of around 2.52 million (end of 2015), of which 631,357 are in the urban city center.
Important and well-known educational institutions are Jiamusi University (佳木斯 大学) and Jiamusi First Middle School (佳木斯 第一 中学), one of the best middle schools in Heilongjiang .
Administrative structure
At the county level, Jiamusi consists of four city districts , three districts and three independent cities . These are:
- Qianjin District (前进 区), 14 km², 160,000 inhabitants, city center, seat of the city government;
- Xiangyang District (向阳 区), 24 km², 100,000 inhabitants;
- Dongfeng District (东风 区), 53 km², 100,000 inhabitants;
- Jiao district (郊区 = "suburb"), 792 km², 470,000 inhabitants;
- Huanan County (桦南县), 4,416 km², 440,000 inhabitants, capital: Huanan Municipality (桦南 镇);
- District Huachuan (桦川县) 2,260 km², 220,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Yuelai (悦来镇);
- Tangyuan County (汤原 县), 3,230 km², 270,000 inhabitants, capital: Tangyuan Municipality (汤原 镇);
- Fuyuan City (抚远 市), 6,260 km², 110,000 inhabitants;
- Tongjiang City (同 江 市), 6,252 km², 170,000 inhabitants;
- City of Fujin (富锦市), 8,227 m², 450,000 inhabitants.
