Shuangyashan
Shuangyashan (Chinese simplified : 双鸭山 市, traditional : 雙鴨山 市, pinyin : Shuāngyāshān Shì, literally City of the Duck Mountains ) is a Chinese district-free city in the northeastern Chinese province of Heilongjiang . The name refers to two peaks northeast of the city.
Geography and demography
Shuangyashan is about 100 km south of the Russian border. The district-free city consists of four city districts and four districts. It has a total area of 26,483 km². The 2010 census counted 1,462,626 inhabitants (population density 55.23 inh / km²). At the end of 2015, the population was estimated at 1,459,000.
Administrative structure
At the county level, Shuangyashan is made up of four municipalities and four counties. These are:
- Jianshan District (尖山 区), 118 km², 210,000 inhabitants;
- District Lingdong (岭东区), 908 km², 90,000 inhabitants;
- Sifangtai District (四方 台 区), 169 km², 70,000 inhabitants;
- Baoshan District (宝山 区), 572 km², 130,000 inhabitants;
- Jixian district (集贤县), 2,860 km², 310,000 inhabitants, main town: Fuli municipality (福利 镇);
- Youyi district (友谊 县), 1,800 km², 120,000 inhabitants, capital: Youyi municipality (友谊 镇);
- Baoqing district (宝清县), 13,443 km², 420,000 inhabitants, main town: Baoqing municipality (宝清 镇);
- District Raohe (饶河县), 6,613 km², 140,000 inhabitants, main town: large municipality Raohe (饶河 镇).

economy
Shuangyashan is a center of coal mining , but steel is also produced there. The area around Shuangyashan was very sparsely populated until coal was discovered in 1914, and since 1928 coal reserves have been mined on a large scale.

A railway line connects Shuangyashan with Jiamusi .
Culture
Very close to Shuangyashan there is a tiger sanctuary and a large number of historically significant places from the Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945).
