Great Hinggan Mountains (Administrative Region)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The administrative district Great Hinggan Mountains ( Chinese  大興安嶺 地區  /  大兴安岭 地区 , Pinyin Dà Xīng'ān Lǐng dìqū ) is an administrative subdivision of the Chinese province of Heilongjiang . Its administrative area includes the extreme northwest of the province and part of the Oroqen Autonomous Banner belonging to the city of Hulun Buir in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region . For this administrative special case, which is unique in China, it is officially stated that the area (the soil) belongs to Inner Mongolia and is part of the Oroqen Autonomous Banner, but that the area is administered by Heilongjiang Province. What is unusual about this construction is reinforced by the fact that the capital and administrative office of the administrative district of the large municipality Jiagedaqi District in the sub-district Jiagedaqi District is and is thus in Inner Mongolia.

geography

The district's landscape is dominated by the forests of the Great Hinggan Mountains , most of which can be classified as taiga . Larches and birches are predominant . Permafrost is common. The administrative district manages a large part of China's living wood reserves, the most important branch of the economy is forestry. The total area of the administrative district is likely to be 82,697 km², although there is also serious information about 84,600 km². Of this, at least 17,386 km² (possibly up to 18,000 km²) are in Inner Mongolia, so that the area within Heilongjiang should be 65,311 km² (according to other information about 66,600 km²).

Administrative structure

The Great Hinggan Mountains Governorate consists of three counties and four subdistricts , two of which are in Inner Mongolia (Jagdaqi and Songling) and two in Heilongjiang (Xinlin and Huzhong). The area of the administrative district is usually given as 46,755 km², whereby only the three districts are counted. In fact, the three districts are already 47,122 km² in size. The areas of the subdistricts, even their existence, is concealed in most - including official Chinese publications - and specifically also the subdistricts that are within Heilongjiang. This may be due to the fact that the subdistricts are actually administrative units at the district level, but each is a kind of "state enterprise" in itself. H. the economic-entrepreneurial and the political-administrative administrative functions form a unit. This hybrid status has meant that the four sub-districts are not always counted like “normal” administrative units at the district level and are often missing in statistics. The counties and subdistricts are:

  • District Huma (呼玛 县), main town: Large municipality Huma (呼玛 镇), 14,335 km²,
  • Tahe district (塔河 县), main town: Tahe municipality (塔 河镇), 14,420 km²,
  • District Mohe (漠河 县), main town: Xilinji municipality (西林吉 镇), 18,367 km²,
