Lasauvage

Lasauvage (Luxembourgish Zowaasch , German Wilden ) is a village in the municipality of Differdange in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg . It has 415 inhabitants (2010).

location

Lasauvage is, with the exception of the east side of the village, enclosed by the border with France . The village is located in the middle of a circular valley basin formed by the Crosnière (Luxembourgish: Réierbaach) brook and can be reached from Differdange via the CR 176a, a small road that leads in parts through forest. The French neighboring town is called Zounen in Luxembourgish (French Saulnes , German sun ).

Due to a cross-border cooperation between the SIACH, the Luxembourg wastewater association for the Korn basin (for the villages of Differdingen , Petingen , Niederkerschen and Sassenheim ) and the SIAL, the French wastewater association for the Longwy agglomeration , the wastewater from the village of Lasauvage in the neighboring French municipality further treated, since this technical and economical solution is offered due to the shorter distance of only ten kilometers. The waste water from the municipality are the Crosnière fed after conversion measure at a cost of two million euros to the collective collectors of the valley and then the biological wastewater treatment plant of Lexy .

Ore mining

In 1625 the first ironworks was built in Lasauvage . The first blast furnace in Luxembourg was also built here. Several mines produced the minette . The last of these pits was closed in 1978.

Others

Count Fernand de Saintignon , a local citizen, had a church, a school and a rectory built. He wanted to turn Lasauvage into a spa . That is why he also had a spa hotel built, today's Balcon . However, the project failed.

There was an inn in Lasauvage , which was exactly on the border between Luxembourg and France. In the middle of the economy was a white line that indicated the border between states.
