Systematics
Department : Ascomycota mushrooms
Subdivision : Real ascent mushrooms (Pezizomycotina)
Class : Sordariomycetes
Subclass : Sordariomycetidae
Order : Sordariales
Family : Lasiosphaeriaceae
Scientific name
Lasiosphaeriaceae
Nannf.

The Lasiosphaeriaceae are a family of fungi from the order of the Sordariales .

features

As fruiting bodies , they form thick-walled, dark perithecia . They often have hair or are ornamented. If there is an ostiolum , an opening at the top, it has hair-like structures, the periphyses . The tissue in which the tubes are embedded often has thin-walled, inconspicuous and small paraphyses . The tubes themselves are cylindrical to club-shaped, fairly thin-walled and often with a small J-shaped apical ring. The ascospores are variable, usually with at least one dark, brown cell and one hyaline cell. Sometimes they are ornamented or have a gelatinous appendage. There is no stroma and only sometimes a basal subiculum . Minor crop forms are rare. If present, it is hyphomycetically developed.

Ecology and diffusion

The Lasiosphaeriaceae live saprobically on dung, soil or rotting plant material. They are therefore very common, especially in temperate climates.

meaning

Little is known about their importance as potential wood destroyers. Some species are used as model species in genetics .

Taxonomy

The Lasiosphaeriaceae were first described by John Axel Nannfeldt in 1932. There are 31 genera. There is evidence that the family is polyphyletic , but it is not yet fully understood.
