Latuin ( f. 400) was the legendary first bishop of Séez , today's Sées . He is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church .

Life according to the legend

He is said to have carried out the first baptisms in the area of ​​what is now the Orne department a few meters from today's cathedral in Sées .

According to legend, shortly after his arrival in Sées he found shelter with a widow whose daughter was blind from birth and whom he healed. This earned him the reputation of a miracle worker. Due to hostility from the representatives of the traditional religion, he withdrew to the forest of Cléray near Belfonds towards the end of the 4th century , where he built an oratory near a spring . There he continued his mission . Legend has it that there he healed the paralyzed, deaf, and skin diseases.

In the cathedral of Sées his relics are kept under the altar dedicated to him. At the Cléray fountain, near which the saint is said to have worked, people with skin diseases fetch water all year round. There is a 12th century church nearby.

His feast day is June 20th . Latuin is the patron saint of the diocese of Sées.
