Latvijas Neatkarīgā Televīzija (LNT, Latvian Latvian Independent TV Station ) was a private television broadcaster in Latvia.

history

Latvijas Neatkarīgā Televīzija was founded in 1996 as Pica TV. LNT belonged to the media group All Media Baltics , which in turn belonged to the Modern Times Group (MTG). MTG bundled its television stations in the three Baltic states , they became part of the TV3 group. In 2017, MTG sold the Baltic stations of the TV3 group (and thus LNT) to the investment company Providence Equity Partners .

In 2009 LNT had a market share of 16.5%, making it the most watched TV channel in Latvia. In the 2010s, LNT lost especially younger viewers, as they began to access information from the Internet and to prefer streaming portals for entertainment , and therefore hardly ever watched television. Ultimately, LNT no longer met the return targets of the TV3 Group or Providence Equity Partners.

On December 1, 2019, LNT had to stop producing its own program. Instead, were on the broadcast channel now on other programs of TV3 broadcast group. LNT's broadcast license was transferred to TV3 Life on March 1, 2020 . TV3 Life is a new special interest broadcaster aimed primarily at women.
