The Laura Chavin Cigars GmbH with headquarters in Hochdorf (Eberdingen) was led by Helmut Buehrle cigar company , which he founded in 1992 and belongs to him. It had subsidiaries in Austria and Switzerland .
Company history
Helmut Bührle Zeit (* 1948) was already involved in the tobacco business of his mother Sophie Chavin Bührle, who traded in raw tobacco, during his studies in marketing and design in Nagold.
After completing his studies, Bührle worked for Hermès , Enrico Coveri, Christian Dior and Zino Davidoff, among others .
In 1992 he began building and founding his own premium cigar brand. He gave this the name of his daughter, Laura Chavin Bührle (* 1988), who is now also working. For this he received support from Siegfried Maruschke, a tobacco producer from the Dominican Republic . The first Laura Chavin cigars came out in 1999 in six formats. There are now over 40 formats, plus humidors and other accessories. Bührle also equips the “Master of Cigar Lounges” in the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa , Baden-Baden; Park Hotel Bremen; Wald- und Schlosshotel Friedrichsruhe; Laura Chavin Cigar Lounge Uppsala, Sweden. Laura Chavin is also represented in 14 countries.
With his company, Bührle was a partner u. a. Porsche Tennis Grand Prix , Volvo Masters golf tournament in Spain, Baden-Baden race week, Senses Award Berlin, German Embassy Japan, Cannstatter Wasen / Willhelmers Schwabenwelt, Handelsblatt golf tournament, Concours d'Elegance in Monaco.
Insolvency proceedings were opened for the company's assets on March 28, 2017 (Heilbronn District Court - 1 IN 704/16).
The specially founded cigar company Willi Knopf will take over "Laura Chavin Cigars GmbH" in 2017 and the trademark rights of Laura Chavin in early 2019.

criticism
As early as 2005, the world judged Laura Chavin cigars : that they were “overpriced, average cigars” that were “skillfully marketed”.
Litigation
A lawsuit was filed against the company in 2006 by Intertabak , which is not only directed against the company or the operator, but also against Unico Cigars AG, and it concerns false advertising because of the origin of the tobacco products.
On October 31, 2007, an audience of speakers took place at the Commercial Court of the Canton of Zurich. The following settlement was concluded: Helmut Bührle stated on behalf of Laura Chavin Cigars GmbH and in his own name that neither he nor his company stock cigars with Cuban tobacco in their range for the Swiss market. In order to dispel misconceptions in the Swiss market, Laura Chavin undertakes to remove the Terre de Mythe product from the Swiss market on December 1, 2007. Based on the declaration and this obligation, the plaintiff withdraws its action. The parties each bear half of the costs arising from your dispute.
