Laura Urdapilleta

Laura Urdapilleta (born February 2, 1932 in Guadalajara ; † February 11, 2008 ) was prima ballerina of the national Mexican dance company " Compañía Nacional de Danza ", known as "La Bailarina de México" ( Spanish for "The Ballerina of Mexico").

biography

Urdapilleta learned ballet dancing from 1941 to 1945 with Olga Escalona and then with Nelsy Dambré , but also with Gloria Campobello , Michel Panieff and Sergio Francheli . She made her professional dancer debut in 1947 at the age of 15 as a dancer with the City Ballet of Mexico City . In 1978 she became artistic director of the ensemble. In the Ciudad Juárez she founded the school for classical ballet and was awarded as a ballet dancer with the gold medal for fine arts , the gold medal of the government of Jalisco , the medal at the Festival Internacional de la Plata and the keys of the cityCordoba excellent.
