Laura L. Yeager is an American general . On June 29, 2019, she took command of the 40th Infantry Division of the National Guard . She is the first woman, the one Infantry - Division within the US military takes over.

life and career

She was born the daughter of Robert Brandt, who later became Major General of the California National Guard . She began her military career as a helicopter pilot . In 1986 she was elevated to the rank of officer as a second lieutenant , and in 1989 she took over her first company command with the rank of captain . From 2010 to 2012 she served as a colonel in combat missions in Iraq . After interrupting her military career after the birth of her son, she returned to the service of the National Guard. In 2016 she was promoted to Brigadier General. As such, she temporarily commanded the same brigade that her father had commanded.
