Laurel Music was a Swedish twee indie pop band from Gothenburg .

Band history

Laurel Music was founded in 2001 by Tobias Isaksson and Malin Dahlberg. Isaksson had been writing songs for almost ten years before he met Malin Dahlberg, singer in the band Douglas Heart , in 2001 and they decided to set his compositions to music together in Isaakson's living room. The combination of his tweepop melodies, carried by acoustic guitars, with her voice convinced the Swedish label Labrador Records , so that both were immediately signed. The first recordings were two songs for the compilation The Sound Of Young Sweden Vol. 3 . For further studio recordings, Max Sjöholm, drummer with Douglas Heart, came as a permanent member of the band. On the other hand, the band appeared on stage in various forms between duo and sextet. In 2003 they released their first single, Sacred Heart . In 2004 Laurel Musics debut album This Night And The Next was released , which despite its brevity received good reviews. Friends and acquaintances from the Swedish indie scene had made numerous musical contributions to this. Starting in August 2005, Laurel Music played new song material during performances without a further release. Rather, Tobias Isaksson founded the band Irene , with whom he recorded several albums, EPs and singles and went on tour in the following years. Malin Dahlberg and Max Sjöholm, on the other hand, continued to make music together at Douglas Heart. Malin Dahlberg also started her own music project under the name We Are Soldiers We Have Guns . An official separation or dissolution has not yet taken place.
