Douglas Heart was a Swedish indie pop band from Gothenburg .

Band history

Douglas Heart was created in 2002 when Malin Dahlberg and Pontus Wallgren, both songwriters for the band Standing Pales , wanted to record songs with an intimate and minimalist sound. So they founded a duo under the name Hal Blaine and recorded their first songs with the simplest of devices. The musical concept was to create a short, as compact as possible song, with the organ and drums initially generated by a synthesizer. Some demo recordings were made, which she passed on to friends and acquaintances. In the summer of 2001, studio recordings were made for the first time, two songs of which ended up on the Labrador Kingsize compilation after the well-known label Labrador Recordshad become aware of the group. The sound now came under more gentle electronic influences. When the two decided to make music together for a long time and record a long player, they changed the name to Douglas Heart . The compositional work on the debut album began in the fall of 2001. After a while, however, the desire to perform live grew in both of them. Three friends Ramo Spatalovic, Daniel Brandt and Max Sjöholm were hired to provide musical support. The formation finally proved itself, so that the three permanent band members and Douglas Heart grew into a quintet. The sound experienced another further development. In 2003 the long player Douglas Heart was released. The EP I Could See The Smallest Things followed in 2004, followed by a European tour in 2005, which also brought the band to Germany. In the meantime Malin Dahlberg and Max Sjöholm had recorded an album together with Tobias Isaksson in the formation Laurel Music . No further recordings or appearances by Douglas Heart took place, rather Malin Dahlberg pursued her solo project We Are Soldiers We Have Guns . However, there has not yet been an official separation or dissolution.
