Laurentius Beyerlinck

Laurentius Beyerlinck (born April 1578 in Antwerp ; † June 22, 1627 ibid) was a Belgian theologian and Catholic priest.

Life

As the son of a pharmacist, he prepared for the same profession in Leuven . When he chose to enter the priesthood, he was ordained a priest in June 1602. As a theology student he taught poetry and rhetoric at the college of Vaulx-en-Velin and, as pastor of Herent, was professor of philosophy in a nearby seminary of the Canon Regulars.

In 1605 he came to the ecclesiastical seminary in Antwerp, taught philosophy and theology and later became superior. In 1608 he was a canon, censor and theologian of the Church of Antwerp; In 1614 he was made protonotary. Beyerlinck was a priest, rhetorician, speaker and administrator and was constantly engaged in preaching and writing.
