Lauri Pyykönen (born April 20, 1978 in Pirkkala ) is a Finnish cross-country skier .

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Pragelato , Pyykönen together with Keijo Kurttila took fifth place in the team sprint, which was carried out using the classic technique. In the individual competition, which was held in the free technique, he took 27th place. Pyykönen achieved twelfth place in the sprint competition at the 2003 Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme . In 2001 , 2005 and 2007 he was thirteenth each.

In the 2002/03 season Pyykönen was able to fight for second place in a World Cup sprint competition both in Cogne , Italy , behind Tor Arne Hetland , and in Oslo , in Norway , behind Håvard Bjerkeli . These good results secured him third place overall in the sprint ranking of the cross-country skiing world cup this season.
