The trench begins in a wooded area Renne mountains , located in the northern part of the district of Jänickendorf is there and west of the Forstbaumschule Luckenwalde. At a distance of around 330 to 400 meters, further drainage ditches of up to 1,400 meters each flow from the west and east towards the Lausegraben. At Moldenhütten it crosses under the county road 7222 and continues about 970 meters further north before it drains into the Steiner river.
