Lauvitel is a lake at 1530 meters above sea level in the municipality of Le Bourg-d'Oisans in the Vénéon Valley. It is the largest lake in the Massif des Écrins in the French department of Isère .
The valley with the lake is classified as a nature reserve.
Surname
The water body name Lauvitel is formed from the two components lau for lake and vitel for water . Hence the official name is Lauvitel, although the names Lac Lauvitel and Lac du Lauvitel are occasionally used.

The lake has a surface of 35 hectares and a maximum depth of 68 meters. It has no visible surface runoff except when the snowmelt in spring.
