Coordinates: 28 ° 37 ′ S , 122 ° 24 ′ E The Shire of Laverton is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 179,798 km² and has about 1150 inhabitants (2016).
Laverton is located in the east of the state on the border with South Australia about 700 to 1400 kilometers east of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the village of Laverton , where about 350 residents live (2016).

The Laverton Council has nine members. They are elected by residents of the two wards (five from the Town and four from the Country Ward). The Council Chairman and President des Shires are also recruited from among the Councilor.
