The Lavett Bluff is a rocky cliff on the south side of the island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It looms between the Deacock and Fiftyone glaciers .
The cliff was measured in 1948 by participants in the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . They named it Cape Lavett after Lieutenant John L. Lavett of the Royal Australian Navy , officer on board the HMAS Labuan , the rescue ship on this expedition. In 1964 the name was adapted to the actual nature of the property.
