Law Islands

The Law Islands are a group of small islands off the coast of the East Antarctic Kempland . They are located in front of the eastern end of Law Promontory on the west side of the entrance to Stefansson Bay .

Norwegian cartographers mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . A team from the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions , led by the German-Australian geologist Peter Wolfgang Israel Crohn (1925-2015), visited them in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named them after their proximity to the Law Promontory. It is named after the Australian polar explorer Phillip Law (1912-2010).
