The Lawena Museum in Triesen , Liechtenstein , on the history of electrification in the Principality of Liechtenstein, is housed in the operating building of the Lawena power plant, which was built in 1926 .

It is an electrical museum which, among other things, also refers directly to the Lawena power plant . The power plant and historical parts of it are part of the exhibition. In the exhibition rooms on three floors, electrical equipment including historical household appliances, lighting and communication devices are shown. The themed exhibition on “electrical household appliances” with exhibits from the period from 1910 to the present day is located on the second and third floors.

In 2015 the museum received a donation from the Natural Science Forum ( Liechtenstein Physical Society ). Since then, it has had one of the largest collections in the country with 950 exhibits. Around 500 of these are currently on display.

Sponsoring association

The museum is looked after and supported on a voluntary basis by the members of the “Pro Lawena Museum” association (founded in July 2011). The association's president is Werner Büchel.

The area of ​​activity is mainly concentrated on Liechtenstein . The main tasks of the association are the design of the exhibition, maintenance of the exhibits and museum tours. Documentation and research into the electrotechnical history of Liechtenstein and the collection of other items related to electrical engineering are also carried out.
