Lawrence Abernethy, 1st Lord Saltoun

Lawrence Abernethy, 1st Lord Saltoun (* around 1400; † before March 13, 1461) was a Scottish nobleman .

He was the second-born son of the Scottish knight Sir William Abernethy of Saltoun († 1411) and his wife Margaret Borthwick. Upon the death of his older brother in 1428, he inherited his father's estates at Saltoun in East Lothian and Rothiemay in Morayshire .

On June 28, 1445 he was raised by King James II as Lord Saltoun , of Abernethy, hereditary Lord of Parliament . In the same year he became Justiciar of Scotland and thus the highest legal officer in the Kingdom of Scotland .

Since 1448 he was married to a woman named Margaret. He had the following children with her:

His exact date of death is unknown, on March 13, 1461 he was already dead, on this date his eldest son William was officially confirmed as the new owner of his lands.
