The brothers got their first record deal in 1958 with Bob Bertram's label Bertram International, which was based in Hawaii and was the most important label on the local music scene. In the summer of 1958 the Lawrence Brothers played their first session in the Associated Recoders Studio, where they were accompanied by Bob Bertram as percussionist and his daughter Karen Ann and his nieces Linda and Charlene Lewis as background choir. In August, the rockabilly single Hey Baby! / Caribbean and sold extremely well in Hawaii. In the same year the record was released on the American mainland by Freedom Records .
The Lawrence Brothers were immensely popular in Hawaii during those years. While their records always contained rockabilly songs, they also played a lot of country in their live program. Her shows were particularly popular with the US soldiers who were stationed in Hawaii. Her next single from Bertram, the instrumental Marine's Rock , entered the Hawaii Top 30 charts and was again very popular. In addition to other singles with Bertram, also under the pseudonym The Five Finks , the brothers worked as studio musicians and are on other Bertram recordings by artists such as Ken Craig , Dave Edwards , Danny Dalton , the Tilton Sisters and Robin Luke , whose hit Susie Darlin ' according to Bob Bertram, recorded on a simple tape recorder in Bill Lawrence's bedroom.
The last Lawrence Brothers record was released in 1965 as a collaboration with Red "Harmonica" Reeves. Bob Bertram's plan to release an LP with old recordings of the combo in 1979 was abandoned because the previous LP Rockabilly sold poorly in 1958 .
