Lawrence Huntington (born March 9, 1900 in London ; died November 29, 1968 there ) was a British director and screenwriter .

biography

Huntington had been active in film since 1929, and in 1930, After Many Years, the first film under his direction and with a script developed by him, appeared. He made numerous films for the English film market until the 1940s, the first film also released in Germany was Rauschgift ab Bord ( Night Boat to Dublin ) from 1946. Several other films followed until the 1960s, some of which were also translated published. In the 1950s, he focused on television series such as Guest at Errol Flynn ( The Errol Flynn Theater ), Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Presents and The Adventures of Sir Lancelot .

In 1963 he shot the Edgar Wallace filming Death Drums on the Great River on the basis of motifs from the African novel Sanders vom Strom (original title: Sanders of the River).

Shortly before his death, he prepared the Poe film adaptation In Death Grip of the Red Mask and wrote the script for the film, but died shortly after filming began. The film was released in 1969 and was directed by Gordon Hessler .
