Lawrence Treat

Lawrence Treat , actually Lawrence Arthur Goldstone , (* 1903 ; † 1998 ) was an American writer.

Treat studied law and then practiced as a lawyer for some time. The first literary attempts were made during his studies. He also created his pseudonym Lawrence Treat , which he then used throughout his life.

On March 26, 1945 he founded the Association Mystery Writers of America (MWA) together with Anthony Boucher , Brett Halliday and Clayton Rawson . As a member of the League of American Writers he was elected to the Keep America out of war committee in January 1940 . Treat gave up this office in 1941 when the German-Soviet nonaggression pact was broken.
