Hermann Boost

Hermann Boost (born May 8, 1864 in Berlin , † October 19, 1941 in Bad Kissingen) was a German civil engineer and university professor .

Life

After a study of the building industry completed Boost 1893 2. State Examination for Regierungsbaumeister ( Assessor public construction). As a young assistant to Heinrich Müller-Breslau , he was involved in the construction and structural analysis of the dome of the Berlin Cathedral from 1894–1897. He then worked from 1897 to 1899 in the service of the Prussian Road and Hydraulic Engineering Administration on the construction of the Old Harburg Elbe Bridge as the first fixed road connection over the Süderelbe . In 1900 he was appointed full professor of statics at the Technical University of Aachen . As early as 1902, he moved to the Technical University of Charlottenburg as a full professor of building design and head of the Institute for Building Design and Bridge Construction . 1927/1928 he was rector of this university. In 1929 he retired , but continued to give lectures. He last lived in Ferch (Schwielowsee) .

In addition to Max Foerster and his successor Franz Dischinger , he is considered to be the initiator of reinforced concrete construction . He held the title of Privy Councilor and was an honorary senator of the Technical University. His grave is in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .

family

He was married to Marie Dupke (* May 2, 1872, † April 22, 1952). Both son Erich Boost (1904–1951) worked as senior building officer in Minden.
