George Henry de Thierry (born December 17, 1862 in Genoa (Italy), † December 1, 1942 in Berlin ) was professor of water, maritime and port construction and 1915/16 rector of the Royal Technical University of Charlottenburg (today TU Berlin).

George Henry de Thierry was a building inspector in Bremen and worked in the "Central Office of the Weser Correction" under Ludwig Franzius . In 1914 he was a co-founder of the Hafenbautechnische Gesellschaft, then on its board until 1934.

De Thierry was Dietrich Bubendey's successor from November 1, 1903 until his retirement on March 31, 1929, as full professor and professor of hydraulic engineering, maritime and port engineering in the field of hydraulic engineering, water management and cultural engineering, and head of the hydraulic engineering collection in Department II for civil engineering (from 1922 renamed Faculty II for Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Department) of the Royal Technical University of Berlin (from 1919 Technical University of Berlin). In the academic years 1910/1911 de Thierry worked as dean of Department II for civil engineering and in the complicated academic years 1919/1920 as dean of Faculty II for civil engineering. De Thierry was elected rector of the Royal Technical University in Berlin during the war years of 1915/1916. Even after his retirement on March 31, 1929, de Thierry continued his teaching until 1931. From 1927 to 1929 he was a board member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI).

In October 1920 de Thierry was made an honorary doctor of the TH Karlsruhe , and in June 1930 he was made an honorary citizen of the Technical University of Berlin.

George Henry de Thierry died in Berlin in 1942, just two weeks before his 80th birthday, and was buried in the Nikolassee Evangelical Churchyard . The grave has not been preserved.
