Georg Schnadel

Georg Schnadel (born December 9, 1891 in Rechtis near Kempten (Allgäu) ; † April 26, 1980 in Hamburg ) was a German shipbuilder and professor of ship statics and ship elements at the Technical University of Berlin (from 1945 Technical University of Berlin ).

Life

Schnadel studied mechanical engineering at the technical universities in Munich and Danzig from 1912 to 1914 and 1919/20. In 1920 he graduated as a qualified engineer specializing in shipbuilding. From 1920 to 1922 he worked in the shipbuilding industry. In 1923 he became an assistant at the TH Danzig . After graduating as Dr.-Ing. (1925) he was also a private lecturer in Gdansk from 1926, then worked again in industry until 1928. From April 1, 1928 to October 31, 1945 Schnadel was a full professor for statics of ships and ship elements in the field of ship and marine engineering at Faculty III for mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and from the beginning of June 1945 to October 1945. Schnadel worked as an honorary professor at the University of Hamburg from 1952. As in 1939, when Schnadel was appointed chairman of Germanischer Lloyd as the successor to Professor Schütte , Schnadel held this office from 1952 to 1959.
