Paul Hilbig

Paul Josef Hilbig (born July 17, 1901 in Königszelt ( Silesia ), † March 11, 1981 in Berlin ) was a German marquee , professor and rector at the Technical University of Berlin .

Hilbig studied at the universities of Breslau and Berlin and received his doctorate in 1953 at the Technical University of Aachen with a thesis on the subject over ground movement and rock mechanics processes in potash and rock salt mining for Dr. rer. nat.

Hilbig was full professor for mine surveying, mining damage science and applied geophysics at the institute of the same name in Faculty VII of the Technical University of Berlin , which he headed as institute director until his retirement in 1969. From 1963 to 1965 he was rector of the TU Berlin.

He was married to Adelheid Hilbig (1908–1980). He died around four months after his wife in 1981 at the age of 79. The couple's grave is in the Schmargendorf cemetery .
