Frederick Romberg (* 19th September 1871 in Hamm in Westphalia , † 5. November 1956 in Berlin ) was a German mechanical engineering - engineering , university professors and temporarily rector at the Institute of Technology (Berlin) Charlottenburg .

Romberg was appointed full professor at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg on August 1, 1901 . He occupied the newly established professorship for machine elements and was in Department IV for shipbuilding and marine engineering for the field of machine elements and internal combustion engines as head of the experimental field for machine elements (from 1922 in Faculty III for mechanical engineering, from 1928 in Faculty III for mechanical engineering , Shipbuilding Department) of the Technical University of Berlin, renamed in 1920. From 1909 to 1911 and in the academic year 1913/1914 he was Dean of Department IV.

In the summer of 1912 Romberg received the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, IV class.

In the academic year 1913/1914 Friedrich Romberg was elected Rector of the Technical University. The mechanical engineer Emil Josse was vice-rector of his rectorate .

In 1936 Romberg retired at his own request . In 1937 the Technical University of Berlin made him an honorary senator .

On April 1, 1949 Romberg was again appointed full professor for machine elements (Chair II) as successor to Josef Hanner (1874-1954) and as head of the internship office in Department A for Mechanical Engineering of Faculty V for Mechanical Engineering. On September 30, 1951 Romberg was finally retired.

Friedrich Romberg died in Berlin in 1956 at the age of 85 and was buried in the Evangelical Churchyard Nikolassee . The grave has not been preserved.
