Richard Doergens

Richard Doergens (born December 13, 1839 in Elberfeld , † February 5, 1901 in Charlottenburg ) was a German geodesist and university professor.

Life

Richard Doergens was professor of geodesy and field measurement at the Technical University of Berlin . From 1884 to 1885, 1893 to 1894 and 1899 to 1900 he was head of the civil engineering department. From 1891 to 1892 he was rector of the technical university. From 1887 until his death he was a member of the Imperial Patent Office .

Richard Doergens was considered a specialist in instrument science. He worked out numerous new developments and improvements of geodetic instruments. As a member of the Imperial Patent Office, he acted as an appraiser for new types of geodetic instruments. Wilhelm Werner was appointed his successor in 1902 .

Awards

  • Richard Doergens received the honorary title of Privy Councilor in 1892.
