Peggy Pope

Peggy Pope (born May 15, 1929 in Montclair , New Jersey , † May 27, 2020 in Fort Collins , Colorado ) was an American actress .

Life

Pope began her acting career in New York in the mid-1950s. There she appeared in numerous off-Broadway performances such as The Rose Tattoo (1966). In 1968 she received the Obie Award for her role in Mama . She left New York in the late 1960s and moved to California, where she took on small roles in numerous film and television productions. Her best-known film role is that of Margaret Foster in the comedy Why actually ... don't we kill the boss? . In the 1980s she appeared in popular television programs such as Under the California Sun , Hart But Warm , Chief Physician Dr. Westphall , Golden Girls or An Angel on Earth with. Although she never made a breakthrough with a major film or television role, her career lasted until her death. Her autobiography Atta Girl: Tales from a Life in the Trenches of Show Business was published in 2011.
